what makes us unique?
I AM CINEMA's film programs both rethink and reimagine what a supportive, educational, inspiring, inclusive community-based filmmaker nonprofit can be all about. We're not settling for what other film nonprofits traditionally offer. We're building and expanding on what has come before and taking it to the next level.
For starters, we have no limitations on who we are here to serve and support. Like other film nonprofits, we're devoted to developing and supporting the original voices of emerging writers and directors. We're intensely interested in supporting the creative self-liberation of personal cinema. Afterall, with the descent of AI and regular attacks on personal speech, don't you think it's time to up your game? Isn't it time to truly discover your deepest personal voice? We're here for you!
But we don't stop with writer - director creative development.
I AM CINEMA believes that filmmaking is a collaborative art form. Not to get too cute, but it takes a community of artists to make a singular great film. Besides writers and directors, I AM CINEMA's filmmaker programs are designed to welcome and encourage the participation of ALL divisions of filmmaking. We actively encourage the participation of actors, cinematographers, composers, creative producers, editors, production designers and sound designers and frankly anyone who believes in our mission of putting what is cinematic first!
Simply a film lover or a film enthusiast?
We've got you covered too! When we say we're building a new film community, we mean the audience too. What's the point of making personal, expressive cinema without a receptive and engaged audience? So let's open the magic of cinema up for you so that the enjoyment of watching cinema hits new, more indelible, enhanced and involving highs!
Didn’t go to film school?
No problem!! (Neither did Stanley Kubrick, Robert Altman, Quentin Tarantino, Paul Thomas Anderson etc.). Let's plug you back into what makes cinema so exciting. Immerse yourself in a fuller understanding of how cinema creates meaning! Let us become your film school!
