TheI AM CINEMA Writing Labs are development programs for writers who want to strengthen their personal voice and explore the possibilities of cinematic storytelling.
Our labs are designed to meet writers at different stages of the process. You may be starting with the earliest spark of an idea and figuring out what you want to write. You may already have a short screenplay you want to develop. Or you may have completed a feature screenplay and be ready to dig deeper into the work.
What connects all of them is our approach.
There are many ways to make a film or screenplay “work.” We’re interested in a more personal question:
What happens when you stop writing toward expectation and start writing from yourself?
Rather than pushing screenplays toward formula, convention, or perceived market expectations, our labs encourage writers to move in the opposite direction: toward specificity, curiosity, artistic risk, and a clearer understanding of their own voice.
Whether you come to us with an idea, a completed short screenplay, or a feature-length script, the goal is not to turn your work into someone else’s idea of what a screenplay should be.
It’s to help you discover what only you can bring to it.

FROM INCEPTION LAB
Designed for writer/directors beginning with an idea, question, or creative “haunt” rather than a completed script, this lab guides you from that first spark through the development of a feature screenplay rooted in your personal narrative and cinematic voice.
Designed for writers with a completed short screenplay who want to sharpen their vision, strengthen what makes the work distinctly their own, and make every element of the script more intentional and cinematic.
